People: architect, GBD Architects, Portland, Ore.; fabricator and installer, Salem Heating & Sheet Metal Inc., Salem, Ore.; and distributor, Pacific Architectural Products, Clackamas, Ore.
Products: Nearly 30,000 square feet (2787 m2) of Indianapolis-based Citadel Architectural Products, www.citadelap.com, Envelope 2000 Rain Screen metal composite material panels was used on the 120,000-square-foot (11148-m2) building. They were finished in gun metal, terra cotta and champagne metallic.
Fine Points: From start of design to occupancy, the project was completed in 24 months. The metal panels interface with precast concrete and locally quarried sandstone. .

Products: The following metal was installed from Eastman, Ga.-based Alcoa Architectural Products, www.alcoaarchitecturalproducts.com: 54,000 square feet (5017 m2) of Reynobond ACM, 0.157-inch (4-mm), PE core, custom turtle creek brown with a Valspar finish on the facades of the building; 8,000 square feet (743 m2) of Reynobond ACM, 0.157-inch (4-mm), PE core, custom turtle creek green with a Valspar finish at the entrance; and 13,000 square feet (1208 m2) of Reynobond Brushed Aluminum ACM, 0.157-inch (4-mm), PE core with a clear Valspar finish on the returns to the windows and deep soffits.
Fine Points: This new 336,000-square-foot (31214-m2), steel-framed casino boasts a skylight that bisects the room’s 50-foot- (15-m-) high sloping ceilings. It allows natural light to penetrate the casino and LEDs supplement the natural lighting. The 54,000-square-foot (5017-m2) gaming floor features a 30-foot- (9-m-) tall multi-colored waterfall framed by escalators leading to the second floor. The complex includes 137 guest rooms and a 7,500-square-foot (697-m2) convention center.

Products: A Parkade architectural mesh woven metal fabric system from Cambridge Architectural, Cambridge, Md., www.cambridgearchitectural.com, covers the 1,000,000-square-foot (92900-m2) parking structure. J-Bolt tension attachment hardware was used to install the mesh.
Fine Points: Because one floor of the structure lies adjacent to the street, safety was a top priority for that level. The mesh covers the openings because of its impenetrable and transparent nature. Passersby still can see through the cladding. Airflow also is maintained.

Change sometimes can be scary. I didn’t much like it when McDonald’s stopped carrying the McDLT and replaced it with things like the McLean and the Arch Deluxe. I really didn’t like it when they built a new Arnold’s on “Happy Days” and made the Fonz a teacher.
